Cloudy days. Even gray, damp and cold. Wet and raw. The sun will go down in 40 minutes and with a compact cloud cover there is no chance of any brightening. So now shall we ride!

But not for me. Keeps me next as usual.I have ridden on some horses but never understood the idé.

Instead, take the chance to take some photos but discover that it is not so easy, because it is so dark!

We are at Ponnylyckan outside Södersunda. 15 minutes drive from the largest town on Åland, Mariehamn. My dear wife, Therese, will finally be able to ride after a long wait.

Personally, I discover that I have to go up to over ISO 1000 to cope with the movements of the animals. It is enough that they wrinkle the nose and it will be blurred, as you see in the picture below.

Inside the saddle chamber, it is at least a little warmer and more cozy.

The cat thrives there, but he does not really seem to want to be in the picture. But it is important to keep the camera steady because I have to go down to 1/30 second.

Elvis!

At least I know what his pony is called. His name is Elvis, but the muskrat did not want to introduce hereself but kept an eye on us.

While Therese is struggling to get the Icelandic horse to tölt, I am struggling with the bad light.

Realize that it is better to try to capture the movement, instead of trying to find sharpness.

So it will be a continuation of the work in the previous blog – The light in the dark. To follow the subject and get a blurry background.

Here I realize that the difficulty lies in the fact that the motif, ie the horse, does not move so fast in relation to the background. But in some pictures I managed to capture the very idea of the technique.

My whife Therese Lomner look happy after today’s gray, cold and wet riding …
