The ice of Lumparn!

Vågorna får vattnet att rör sig fram och tillbaka över klippkanten vid strandlinjen, samtidigt som rörelsen också tar med sig den trasiga isen som ligger som ett täcke över det svarta vattnet. Rörelsen slipar isen som vågorna har gjort med de runda stenarna i tusentals år, men här har process gått på några dagar.

Samtidigt som vinden pressar kylan genom min jacka och kastar blöta snöflingor i mitt ansikte kluckar och rasslar vågor och is förnöjt tillsammans vid mina fötter. Vindens något ilska vinande och isens makliga rörelse med tillhörande meditativa ljud krockar i mig. Är det en stilla stund eller en kamp jag är i?

The waves cause the water to move back and forth over the cliff edge at the shoreline, while the movement also takes with it the broken ice that lies like a blanket over the black water. The movement grinds the ice as the waves have done with the round stones for thousands of years, but here the process has taken a few days.

While the wind pushes the cold through my jacket and throws wet snowflakes on my face, waves and ice rattle happily together at my feet. The slightly angry whistle of the wind and the leisurely movement of the ice with accompanying meditative sounds collide in me. Is it a quiet moment or a struggle I’m in?

Står lutad ut över vattnet med kameran tryckt mot ögat. Försöker hitta en vinkel som fångar isens mönster och rörelse samtidigt som jag måste hindra snöfallet, som trycker på utifrån havet, att fylla linsen med blöta snöfläckar.

Stands leaning out over the water with the camera pressed against the eye. Trying to find an angle that captures the pattern and movement of the ice while I have to prevent the snowfall, which presses from outside the sea, from filling the lens with wet snow patches.

Vid datorn, i husets värme, arbetar jag med att hitta tillbaka till känslan av kyla och vågrörelser. Passar det bäst med hårt, grafiskt svartvitt; mer gråskala i mjuka nyanser eller till och med färg, trots det gråa ljuset som en molntung himmel skapar?

At the computer, in the heat of the house, I work to find my way back to the feeling of cold and wave movements. Does it fit best with hard, graphic black and white; more greyscale in soft shades or even colour, despite the grey light created by a cloudy sky?

Kontrasten med vit snö och svart vatten gör det svårt att hitta gråskalan i vissa bilder. Snön blir utfrätt och bara vit utan struktur eller så blir den blaskigt grå. Fattar tycke för det vita, krispiga i den våta isen som för några sekunder har hamnat på land och dränerats på havsvatten.

The contrast with white snow and black water makes it difficult to find the greyscale in some images. The snow becomes corroded and only white without structure or it turns boring grey. Likes the white, crispy in the wet ice that for a few seconds has ended up on land and drained on seawater.
