The light of the night!

Står i mörkret på gång- och cykelbanan och känner kylan genom kläderna. Hade inte tänkt ut och fota i kväll, men hade lite tid över i väntan på att hämta upp sonen, så därav det dåliga klädvalet.

Några joggare stryker förbi och jag mer känner än ser att de granskar mig och undrar varför jag står där och lurar i mörkret med kameran redo.

Stands in the dark on the pedestrian and bicycle path and feels the cold through my clothes. Had not thought yo go out and take pictures tonight, but had some time left waiting to pick up the son, hence the poor choice of clothes.

Some joggers pass by and I feel more than I see them examining me and wondering why I’m standing there lurking in the dark with the camera ready.

Men jag tror mig ha hittat ett bra läge för att testa att fotografera bilar i rörelse. Få bilen att vara hyffsat skarp men med en fartig, randig bakgrund.

Just där jag står så har jag flera ljus på andra sidan gatan från Mariehamns bensinmackar som jag hoppas ska bilda en spännande bakgrund i mörkret.

Första försöken bli inte som jag har tänkt mig som ni kan se i bilden ovan. Jag får inte bilen skarp.

But I think I have found a good location to try to photograph moving cars. Make the car be fairly sharp but with a fast, striped background.

Right where I stand, I have several lights on the other side of the street from Mariehamn’s petrol stations, which I hope will form an exciting background in the dark.

The first attempts will not be as I have imagined as you can see in the picture above. I do not get the car sharp.

Här ovan har jag lyckats lite bättre men det beror på att slutartiden inte var så lång.

Here above I have succeeded a little better, but it is because the shutter speed was not so long.

Fick annars till ett trevligt perspektiv på denna, men fortfarande så är bilen inte som jag hade tänkt mig.

Got on the other hand a nice perspective on this, but still the car is not as I had imagined.

Sedan kommer jag på felet! Jag har inte haft bilen rakt framför mig.

Som ni ser på de förra bilderna så är bilen på väg snett emot mig. Då funkar det inte att panorera med bilen, utan bilen förskjuts i bilden när den kommer närmare mig. Den blir också större och linjerna flyter ut.

Then I come to the mistake! I have not had the car right in front of me.

As you can see in the previous pictures, the car is on its way obliquely towards me. Then it does not work to pan with the car, but the car shifts in the picture when it gets closer to me. It also gets bigger and the lines flow out.

För att få bilen att vara skarp mot bakgrunden, behövs det att bilen stannar på samma ställe i bilden. Då måste man ha den vinkelrätt framför sig!

Så då blev det som jag hade tänkt mig! Ljusen i bakgrunden som streck och bilen skarp. Men nu för tiden så får man inte hela streck som ni ser, för ljusen är antagligen diodlampor som pulserar om jag har fattat rätt!

To make the car be sharp against the background, it is necessary for the car to stop in the same place in the picture. Then you have to have it perpendicular in front of you!

So then it turned out as I had imagined! The lights in the background as dashes and the car bright. But nowadays you do not get the whole line as you see, because the lights are probably diode lamps that pulsate if I have got it right!

Tog sedan några bilder som passagerar i bilen. Lite längre slutartid och så försökte jag hitta ljus som kunde skapa något tilltalande mönster i rörelse. Många som inte blev något men dessa två tycker jag har något tilltalande.

Then took some pictures as a passengers in the car. A little longer shutter speed and then I tried to find light that could create some appealing pattern in motion. Many who did not become anything but these two I think have something appealing.

När sonen och de andra kommer ut från teaterträningen, tar jag chansen att fånga de anonyma siluetterna som rör sig mellan de mörka skuggorna och belysningen.

When the son and the others come out of the theatre training, I take the chance to capture the anonymous silhouettes that move between the dark shadows and the lighting.
